In this total renovation in San Francisco, two aging apartment flats were combined to make one brand new residence. The basic shape of the existing building remained unchanged, but everything else was torn down and rebuilt. Here at the street façade, eight-foot high double doors flanked by side lights open onto balconies enclosed by strands of steel cables. Two shades of integrally colored stucco replaced the old terrazzo and wood siding.
