The kitchen is a blend of woods - oak on the floor, two tones of ash cabinets, walnut dining table and chairs, and natural Douglas fir and sandblasted glass doors all come together to create a rich and harmonious environment. This was intended to provide a counterpoint to the stainless steel appliances, plumbing fixtures and range hood. Similarly, the lighting is a blend of incandescent-balanced fluorescent lights in the ceiling soffit and low voltage quartz halogen light sources in the hanging ceiling pendant fixtures and in the Puklights that provide uplight over the cabinets and under the upper cabinets washing the countertops. The fabric of the Akimbo chair in the foreground is a thickly striped composition of reds.
